Paul Godwin RIP
I am sad to hear of the passing of vocalist, pianist and songwriter Paul Godwin. I only really worked with Paul for one album, but it was a special one. I got involved in Eternal Return without knowing Paul and his longtime musical collaborator Miguel Noya, but as I knew Robert Jürjendal was going to be involved, I could sense quality.
As it turned out, Paul was easy to work with, warm, friendly, enthusiastic and open minded. We had fun. The album, recorded mostly live at Famous Gold Watch Studios in Berlin worked out very well. We chose to name the project Eternal Return, which was almost a jokey name alluding to us all not really knowing if we would be able to ever repeat the experience, as it had all seemed so unlikely, but there was chemistry for sure. The album title Once Only, seems almost bittersweet now on reflection of Paul’s passing.
I’d been in touch with Paul sporadically and there was talk of more. Paul had some cool ideas for us all to go and record together in Prague, or Iceland, or somewhere with an atmosphere to give the music a new flavour. More recently Paul got in touch asking me to resend some bass parts to some new material I’d recorded sometime ago, so I guessed there was more in the pipeline, but not now.
RIP Paul and sincere condolences to family and friends.

A really sweet guy. We grew up in the same neighborhood as kids.
So sorry for your loss 😢
