More Wearables.
T Shirt Time again...
More wearables…the weather is still holding for T shirts again…so a good time to delve into the box and see what might be a good candidate for some Swedish Death Cleaning….
This is a paid subscriber only post for a few days to give those people the first opportunity to grab something from my personal archive, which I am in the process of slimming down. After a few days I’ll open this post to everyone. If you are reading this and you are not already a paid subscriber then it’s because I’ve removed the paywall. This is probably a good time to remind anyone interested to:
As before, these T shirts are all unworn, and all in good condition without any holes or rips, but please excuse the perfunctory photos.
I’ll start with an oddity this time… San Francisco Festival T Shirt featuring PT and loads of other bands. This was a memorable gig, for a number of reasons. The venue was incredible, a beautiful building which was also conveniently a short walk from our hotel. I kept seeing a guy in a boiler suit wandering around the grounds of the hotel, a bit later the same guy was hanging around the stage area while Magma were sound checking, I was thinking “What is the hotel maintenance man doing at the gig?”. Imagine my surprise when said maintenance man ascended the stage, grabbed a microphone and let rip a full blown stream in Kobaïan before launching into some astounding drumming behind a kit! I had no idea it was Christian Vander! In those pre internet days, although I had an album or two, I had no idea who Magma were or what they looked like. This festival was the first time I saw the mighty Magma, and it was kind of mind blowing. Not shown on the T shirt, but the amazing Buckethead was also there, also mind blowing.
I also remember enjoying Gong, but it was a line up totally different to the one touring and recording today. The Ship of Theseus principle has ensured that the good ship Gong sails on despite being staffed by a totally different crew, for anyone not sure about checking out their recent material I’d suggest it’s a good manifestation of the old spirit whilst still going somewhere different. Brand X were there too but I missed them totally, although I managed to see them sometime later in the UK, great stuff.
We had more than a few technical problems for this show, which means an otherwise fantastic experience and what should have been a marvellous show, remains in the “meh” category in my memory banks.

Next up this from the Stupid Dream Tour. Funny how the CD tray imagery may well be something totally meaningless these days to anyone born after the Millennium.
With Tour Date Backprint:
What strikes me reading these dates now is that although we’d been touring a while by 1999, this lengthy series of international dates was undertaken well before the band got any kind of major attention. I am not sure anything like this would be possible in today’s challenging touring climate for a similar sized band as PT was circa 1999.

Somewhat earlier Signify Tour T shirt:
Backprint, shorter list as this T shirt was evidently just for the Italian Dates….note the spelling mistake “Bolgna”! I wonder if this ever made the merch stand, it could be a sample from a merch company that somehow ended up with me. Anyway, three nights at Frontiera must mean this was the tour on which the Coma Divine live album was recorded.

From a few years later, a Lightbulb Sun T Shirt:
Slightly sinister backprint:

Incident era:
Backprint with song titles:
This must have been a T shirt released as part of the album pre-order bundle, which explains the release date being on the back.

Lastly,
This fun souvenir was a totally unofficial fan made T shirt (L), which was presented to all 5 of us shown on the front at some point during a US tour, memory fails me but likely (??) Chicago and perhaps when filming the Arriving concert DVD.
This one is not for sale, but will be sent free of charge anywhere in the world, to the person who leaves me the most accurately South Park “PT themed” voice message (..judged by me, whose word is final) on my Speakpipe voicemail. Be warned, I will probably make the winning entry public! Also note, if my systems detect any sort of AI voice you will be disqualified!
There’s a lot of unofficial and bootleg T Shirts floating around, but these are all genuine items from the period, so, as with all purchases coming from my personal collection, these will include a signed certificate from me.
